Stampendous + Simon Says Stamp = WOW

I feel like I’m behind on posting but I guess I’m not, really!  This weekend I worked for several hours finishing up TONS of cards with the insides, envelopes and packaging.  I am determined to complete the process for each card as I make it from now on!!  I did take some time this evening to use this Stampendous Jumbo Dahlia image (no longer current) which I’d colored with Zigs a while back and had put aside.  Today I cut it into two pieces so I could make two cards with it!

This gorgeous background was made with Simon Say’s Stamp’s Kaleidoscope Leaves background stamp, upon which I randomly brushed Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink along with a little Black Soot.  I spritzed the stamp with water then stamped it onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock.  The base card is actually the first one I did but didn’t like the look so just covered it with my second version!

On a strip of the Bristol Smooth I used the Kaleidoscope Leaves background in the same manner, but with Carved Pumpkin and Fired Brick distress oxide inks, spritzing with water for that soft watery look.  I trimmed it down, layered it onto a strip of gray textured card stock, then heat-embossed the sentiment in black.

This card was created in the same way, but without the card stock layer behind the sentiment which is from Hero Arts Everyday Sayings set.  I embossed that with black to make it pop on the softer background and lifted it with a strip of fun foam.  A piece of Basic Gray patterned paper is placed behind the background layer and all was mounted to a black base card.

I think these two cards are just beautiful and it felt good to create after hours of busy work with finishing up cards!!

More Kaleidoscope of Leaves!

A cold winter-y weekend in Vermont had me dreaming of a tropical vacation and sunshine!  It also meant staying inside and making cards!  I’ve had this Simon Says Stamp Kaleidoscope Leaves background stamp for a few weeks but haven’t used it till now!  It was so fun to color in the details with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, starting with the blue, then adding orange and green.  I left some white for the contrast.  After coloring, I trimmed the panel down enough to add the gold and white layers behind it.

I stamped and embossed in gold the beautiful blossom and stem from Simon Says Stamp’s Summer Flowers set onto a die-cut piece of card stock using Gina Marie Designs Stitched  Rectangle dies.  I colored the image with Zig Clean Color Brush markers then gold-embossed the Hello sentiment which is from SSS’s Bouquet of Thanks set.  I die-cut another rectangle of fun foam to lift the floral image, mounted it to the background and used a bright aqua base card to complete my design!  My little piece of tropical paradise!

Simon Says Stamp Kaleidoscope Leaves

2018-03-17 12.31.00
I’ve been playing with alcohol inks for over a month now, and creating many colorful and interesting prints!  My goal is to use them in my cards, and I chose this one to combine with Simon Says Stamp’s Kaleidoscope Leaves background stamp!  My first step was to cut the print down using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle die, and then I heat-embossed the background stamp in gold onto the print.  I mounted that to a layer of hot pink card stock, and then onto an A2 sized card base.

To accent the gold embossing, I cut out Celebrate using my Sizzix Thinlits Die Set- Celebration Words by Tim Holtz from gold metallic card stock and adhered it to the panel.

This is the second version of my Kaleidoscope Leaves card but this time I used Ranger Distress Oxide inks to create the colorful background!  First of all, I heat-embossed the background stamp in gold; I then pressed several colors of oxide inks onto my craft mat, spritzed with water and randomly pressed my embossed card panel into the ink, drying between colors with my Ranger heat tool.  When I was satisfied with the results, I did the same thing with a strip of card stock to make the base for the letters.

I mounted the strip onto a piece of gold metallic cardstock and attached the cut-out letters remaining from the first card.  Finally, I adhered all the layers to a base card of dark blue.
