My Favorite Things Roses All Over!

2018-06-11 17.41.11
I was poking around just now in my CopyCatCard photo files and stumbled upon these fabulous backgrounds!!!  How did I not share them with you??!!  😀  Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love floral stamps, and floral cards and FLOWERS!  I’ve had this gorgeous background stamp called Roses All Over (made by My Favorite Things) for a couple years and earlier this summer I got it out to play with.  The image on the left was made by heat-embossing in white onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock and watercolored with my Zig markers.  Basically, I scribbled randomly over the roses then used a sloppy wet paintbrush to move the color.  Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL?!  The one on the right was embossed in gold and I smooshed distress oxide inks onto my craft mat and then just tapped my card stock in it, moving it around to distribute and layer the color.  Equally gorgeous!

Here’s what I made with the distress oxide background!  I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Hillside Border dies to cut out the center and mounted it onto a white base card and embossed my sentiment in the opening.  Notice the lovely roses on the left; they’re from Stampendous’ Rose Garden, gold-embossed as well and painted with more oxide ink then die-cut.  Oh!  I used Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle dies for the outside edge.  How do you like my photo setting?  I stuck my card in a pot of begonias to photograph it!

This little lovely is made with my Zig-watercolored background which I die-cut using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Ovals set.  My base card was embossed with one of my favorite folders, Manhattan Flower by Stampin Up.  I mounted the oval onto another oval cut from fun foam and die-cut Hero Arts Happy out of white fun foam!  I adhered that to a strip of bright pink card stock and used a little tape to attach it.  I then embossed “Anniversary” (from Stampendous Big Word Happy) onto another strip but lifted it with a little foam tape.  I just love how bright and cheery this card is and so happy that I found these images to share with you!  I love hearing from you so keep commenting!  🙂  XO

Anniversary Calla Lilies

2018-04-11 12.57.36
My sister-in-law recently asked me to make a card with calla lilies for her to give to my brother for their upcoming tenth anniversary!  Ten years ago I made their wedding invitations using Stampin Up’s calla lily from their Ageless Adornments set!  I no longer own Ageless Adornments so found this wonderful image by PSX  from ebay and set to work!  As always, I started with a piece of Bristol Smooth watercolor paper, and heat-embossed the flower in white.  I then did a wash of soft yellow and gray around it with Zig markers and lots of water.  To stamp the script I had to make a mask of the lilies and then stamp over it.

I used shades of gray to color in the blossoms and a little green for the stems and leaves.  After smudging more gray ink around the edges, I remembered that I have this great BLESSED sentiment stamp (from who knows where!!) and so heat-embossed it in white onto a strip of vellum.  I then just wrapped it around to the back of the panel, taped it down and adhered the panel to a layer of soft green, and finally onto a card base of shimmery gray.  I love the elegant softness of this card and I think they will too!

Here’s a photograph I found of the invitations I made in 2008!  Bad lighting but they loved these and I did too!  🙂  Happy 10th anniversary, Jim & Lisa!!  ❤

Today~I Give You Paris!

2018-04-05 07.36.39
Faith Hill sings a beautiful song called “Paris” and the chorus begins with “…tonight I can’t give you Paris” but today I CAN give you Paris!  Aren’t the morning shadows of the blinds so striking in this photo??  I used my lovely set by Stampendous called Paris Bonjour which also has coordinating dies and a pretty fleur-de-lis stencil.  I began by sprinkling black and yellow Brusho crystals onto a panel of Bristol Smooth card stock, then spritzed with water, allowing the water to move the ink.  I tipped the card to let the colors run, then blotted off the excess dampness.  Setting that aside to air-dry, I heat-embossed in black the stunning Eiffel Tower onto a scrap of Bristol Smooth, then die-cut it.  I did the same with the little stand of trees but with Versafine Onyx Black permanent ink.

Stampendous has a FABULOUS Paris background stamp and I stamped that onto my dried Brusho panel with Versafine Onyx Black, then laid down the fleur-de-lis stencil and sponged a little Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink just to add a bit more interest.  I sponged Black Soot Distress Ink around the edges of my panel and then, after die-cutting another Eiffel Tower from black fun foam, I adhered them together. I sponged more Black Soot around the edges of the Tower and mounted it onto my panel.  I used bits of foam tape to attach the little stand of trees which I’d colored lightly with shades of gray Zigs.

I felt the card design was busy enough so I just mounted the panel to a base card of white, then dropped sequins from above, rearranged them a tad and attached them with dots of Glossy Accents glue.

The very last touch was to stamp the sentiment from Stampendous’ Big Words Happy stamp set onto a scrap of paper, sponge around it with black distress ink and trim the ends to mimic a little banner.  I mounted that on a narrow strip of fun foam.  SIGH!!  Although this card is “dark” it makes me happy and I hope it does you too!  🙂
