Altenew Wild Hibiscus Take Two!

2018-04-08 09.41.34
I’m constantly inspired by other’s cards and Pinterest is my go-to source for cards to copy!  😀  Check out my Card Inspiration Gallery there!  I love the look of images stamped in black on a white background, so today I created this beautiful card!  Altenew’s Wild Hibiscus set is perfect for this style!  I began by stamping out one of the blossoms with Versafine Onyx Black permanent ink onto a white card base, then set that aside.

For my oval image, I heat-embossed some blossoms and the butterfly using white embossing powder on a piece of Bristol Smooth watercolor paper.  I decided to use my Gansai Tambi watercolors and filled in the background first with a wash of black, then dark blue over it.  I dried it with my heat tool, then filled the blossoms with water so that when I dropped in color, it spread and “bloomed”!  I wasn’t sure about the butterfly, but I do like the pop of green against the other colors!

When the whole panel was dry, I spattered on some white and black paint, then added little jewels as an accent.  Using my Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies, I cut the watercolored panel, an oval of black fun foam and a larger oval for the frame.  I adhered the painted panel to the fun foam, then to the black frame oval.

Hero Arts Happy Stamp and Cut  was the perfect addition for my sentiment; I cut the word Happy from black fun foam and mounted it onto the panel then stamped the words “for you” below.  I’m so happy with this card!  I love how the colored portion really pops against the black and white!

Here’s another card using Brusho watercolor powders on Hero Arts Everything Flowers background!  I began by heat-embossing the image with clear embossing powder onto Strathmore watercolor paper and then “painted” a wash of water over it all.  Simply shaking or sprinkling the powders onto the wet card stock causes them to bloom and spread, some being contained within the embossed lines of the image.  I cut the panel down in order to adhere it to a panel of blue card stock and attached it to a white card base.  I purchased the sentiment stamp from AC Moore, and heat-embossed it using green embossing powder onto a panel of the watercolor paper, trimmed it down and attached it to another layer of the blue card stock.  A few colorful sequins finished the card!

This card was made using the same technique but I used Bister watercolor powders instead; they’re more muted in tone and are sold by I Brake For Stamps.  I cut down my panel to fit my card base and then heat-embossed a sentiment bought from AC Moore with red embossing powder onto a piece of vellum card stock.  I hope you enjoy these “color explosions” as much as I do!

What fun I had stamping out and coloring all these images from The Ton’s Magnificent Magnolia’s set!  I heat-embossed the magnolias in white onto Strathmore Watercolor paper, then used my Gansai Tambi watercolors to paint the image.  I cut the circle with Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies,  and mounted it above a die-cut frame of soft yellow vellum.  The base card was embossed with Sizzix Floral Tapestry embossing folder.  Hero Arts Ribbon Messages sentiment and die-cut banner and a sprinkle of sequins completed this beautiful sympathy card.

I had this black & gold embossed background in my stash; it was made with Stampendous Jumbo Dahlia which I believe is no longer available on their website.

I was incredibly thrilled and honored recently to receive several stamp sets from Stampendous in order to create cards for them!  This image is from Rose Garden and I just loved working with the rosebuds.  To begin with, I stamped the image onto Strathmore Bristol Vellum paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I used many layers of Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color in the image, then used the coordinating die to cut it out.  Setting that aside, I found this hardwood embossed die-cut oval in my stash of papers, and thought it would enhance the rose stem beautifully!  It was cut using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies, and I had sponged brown ink onto it to bring out the texture.

I also found this piece of patterned paper in my supplies and think it’s PERFECT for the look I was going for!  Don’t you think the white outlined flowers on the corner of it look just like rosebuds?!  Ooooo, it’s the little things, right?!  🙂  Anyway, I cut that to size, adhered it to my card base, then attached the oval in the center.  In order to lift up the rosebuds and leaves, I had to cut tiny pieces of double-stick foam tape to fit under all the teensy sections!  But it was worth the time and effort because…well…you know!  It’s GORGEOUS!!  The final detail was to cut the banner using Hero Arts Ribbon Messages stamps and banner die, attach a little jewel and add it to the card front.  I’m so in love with this card and am so happy that Stampendous has entrusted me with promoting their images!
