Altenew’s Beautiful Day is one of my favorite stamp sets! It’s a layering set with four “levels” of the peony image but I only used three of them to create this card.
Using only Ranger Distress Oxide inks for this card, I pulled out an older background stamp (not visible in the finished card) called Vintage Tapestry and inked it up with Fossilized Amber and stamped it onto the card stock. The pretty text stamp from an old Stampin Up set called Botanicals was inked up with Iced Spruce and stamped along the right hand side of the background.
Next, I stamped the solid layer of the peony with Worn Lipstick randomly around the paper, spritzed it with a little water then dried it with my heat tool. Then I added the “shadow” peony image in Fired Brick on top of the solid image, spritzed and dried. I switched to Fossilized Amber to fill in around the red peonies and used the same process. The solid leaf image was stamped with Iced Spruce, spritzed and dried. Lastly, I stamped the line image of the peony with Versafine Onyx Black ink loosely over each blossom.
After attaching this to a base card I created the sentiment using Altenew’s Label Love stamp set, heat-embossed in black and trimmed down, mounted on double-stick foam tape and finally, added a few random accents of Nuvo Drops in silver. Despite my lengthy description of the process, this card came together fairly quickly! It reminds me of a beautiful piece of silk!
