Simon Says Stamp Summer Flowers

Well, whaddya know?  It’s Saturday and I’m still in my jammies!  The sun is shining here in Vermont but it’s cold and windy; a great day to be in my stamp room!  I had Simon Says Stamp‘s Summer Flowers set out to make my tropical flower card and decided to use just the leaf stamp!  It’s funny how I’ll start a card with NO idea where it’s going, and each step brings me closer to something great!  I began by stamping the leaf all over a piece of Strathmore Bristol Vellum paper (cut to A2 size) using gold pigment ink and then heat embossed with gold powder.  I knew I’d be using a bright green for the leaves, so just spontaneously grabbed one of my darkest blue Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and began to lightly lay down color between a few of the images.  I moved the color with a water brush, doing small sections at a time and love how the color is almost dimensional!

I then colored the leaves, using three shades of green and when it was dry, I spattered some gold craft paint onto it.  I adhered the panel to a white layer, then the green card base.  Using my trusty Gina Marie Stitched Oval dies, I cut a smallish oval, another slightly larger in green, and stamped the sentiment in gold.  I sponged dark blue ink around the edges, attached the ovals together then cut another oval from fun foam to mount it up.  Finally, I added an extra leaf with foam tape.  I think the green really pops against that dark background, don’t you?  🙂
