I mentioned in another post that Stampendous had sent several stamp sets to me so that I could create projects for them! I used two of the sets to make this card; Rose Garden and Laurel Burch Tribal Cats. I spent some time mulling over ideas for a card and thought the cat would be cute peering out from a cluster of roses; hence this design! It involved quite a bit of detailed work but was really fun and the result was quite satisfying! Here’s how I did it: I began by embossing a number of roses and leaves in white onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and painted them with my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor paints. After cutting them out with the coordinating dies, I set them aside and worked on the base panel. Another piece of the Bristol Smooth was cut with my Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle die, and I stamped & embossed the cat in the center, masked that image, stamped and embossed roses and leaves around it, making it appear to be peering out!I watercolored that panel with my Gansai Tambi’s, then attached it to a panel of black and white patterned paper. That was adhered to the base card of gray Bazzill card stock (my favorite!). The final step was to assemble the die-cut blossoms and leaves into a satisfying arrangement, adhering them in layers with double-stick foam tape. It was a little tedious but I love the end result! I hope you do too!

This is really fabulous. I love the colors you’ve used, the layers, the embossing, and the way the cat is peeking through the flowers. Gorgeous card!!!
Isn’t that one wild??!! When I got the cats set, I thought “How on EARTH will I use this???” It’s not my typical style of stamps! But combining the two sets worked for me!! 😀
Wow, Sharon, this is just so beautiful. Laurel’s cat looks very at home in the roses. I didn’t mean to trick you with the cats, but I knew you would leap out of the box (cat pun intended) and make something amazing! And you did!! Great job. Thanks for rising to the occasion!
